K is for Keys and Keyboards

Keys – Unlocking the mysteries of Autism begins with finding the keys

Keyboards – Brain scientists have learned that when we make demands on our brain it can change physically to meet those demands. That change, in turn, increases our brain’s capacity to perform. And so, when a typical or non-typical brain, such as the unusual brain that is naturally tuned to musical notes, and having the gift of perfect pitch is an example of such evidence that the physical structure of the brain accounts for differences in people’s capacities to perform specific tasks. Such differences may sometimes be present at birth. Even when they are not persistently demanding that his or her brain perform such specific tasks, by practice that person’s brain may also change to become more similar to a naturally gifted brain.

Kindness – Another important key is kindness, taking the time to see things from another’s perspective and being patient are fundamental.
